DISKLESS ANGEL Client Configurator Tools – Global Options Setter
6.1
The last part of Chapter 5 introduces how to use Virtual Disk Manager to save a Virtual Disk Drive into a partition image file. Some Global Options affect how DISKLESS ANGEL Client Configurator saves images. These Global Options are set by clicking the “Global Options” under its Tools Menu.

6.2
Don’t use compact mode while saving images
By default, image saved using the “Save” button would be compact, that’s, only bytes used would be allocated. By checking this option, full image rather compact image can be saved.
6.3
Don’t align while saving full size images
Full size image are sometimes required by some programmes such as emulators. To work around problems that are common encountered in such programs, one needs to align the size of the image to cylinder boundary by un-checking this option. By default, this option is un-checked. But if one does not want the alignment to take effect, one can check this option.
6 .4
Don’t use cylinder as size unit
Size returned by the Window Dialog for getting size would be automatically converted. So if one enters 1024k, it will come out as 1M. Two special units, C and D, can also be used [please see Chapter 5.4.1]. However, the exact size for 1C or 1D depends on the cylinder size, which can be changed. So, if one does not want to use them as size unit for automatical conversion process, one has to check this option. Note that even if it is checked, 1C is still interpreted as something like 16065, it just can’t be converted back. By default, this box is un-checked; i.e. Cylinder is used as size unit for automatic conversion
6.5
Disks used for scanning of free space
When you use “(auto)” as the target partition for a Save operation, a new partition would be automatically created using the free space in your hard disk. This list box chooses the hard disks that would be scanned. By checking the box against the hard disk, it will be used for scanning for free space.
6.6
Sectors per track
Default value of sector per track. It is used to decide the cylinder size used in alignment. This value by default is taken to be 63.
6.7
Heads per cylinder
Default value of heads per cylinder. It is used to decide the cylinder size used in alignment. This value by default is taken to be 255.
6.8
One can experiment what options and values are to be used when saving images. The default options or values are usually the ones that are commonly used. The default option that one may often want to change is to check the first option for saving image as full size images.
